1. Presenting: Phi Slamma Jamma

Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry, Will Butler, Jeremy Gara and Tim Kingsbury last night formed a band and named themselves Phi Slamma Jamma, the nickname of the University of Houston Cougars men’s basketball teams from 1982 to 1984. The show was at Eglise St-Edouard and was part of the Pop MontrĂ©al festival. The band played a 45 minute set which included a bunch of covers such as The Clash’s “I’m So Bored with the USA” and some Beatles. Will Butler jokingly added they play Beatles songs better than the Beatles themselves. Check out these Ramones and Devo covers below. Punk rock!
